Deck Of Interest - ZETT

The first 'Deck Of Interest' review is going to be... ZETT!!! Zekrom, Eeletrik, Thundurus and Tornadus or ZETT for short is one of my favourite decks simply because of how easy it is to useThe deck is essentially just a Zekrom version of tyram (Reshiram/Typhlosion prime). But I think that the Zekrom 'version' is much better because of the energy recovery/acceleration being on a stage 1 as opposed to a stage 2.
I think that ZETT is a slightly better deck than the normal ZPST (Zekrom/Pachurisu/Shaymin/Tornadus) because of how consistent the deck is later on in the game. And with the dawn of Next Destines, and the cards that it brings with it, I think that this deck will just get more and more Pokemon to use; especially upon the release of Zekrom-EX.

Strategy
The initial idea of the deck is to try and get zekrom, Thundurus or Tornadus hitting for high amounts of damage. There are 2 ideal starters for this deck; Thundurus and Cleffa. Thundurus is an ideal starter as it kickstarts your energy acceleration with Eeletrik. The other ideal starter is Cleffa; to get rid of those horrible hands. Once you have got Eeletrik attaching energy to Zekrom you can begin to deal high damage. Tornadus and the Double Colorless is your attacker for Zekrom's weakness to fighting. Tornadus is Zekrom's best friend as it has a nice -20 resistance to Fighting.

Key Cards
Zekrom.
The main attacker. This 130HP basic can hit for 120 damage with its attack 'Bolt Strike', with a small price to pay of coarse - taking 40 recoil damage, this is easily one of the best attacks in the format on a non evolving basic. We should cast our eyes over Zekroms first attack, Outrage, which deals 20 damage plus 10 more for each damage counter on this pokemon. Zekrom's second more powerful attack 'Bolt Strike' requires 2 Lightening and 1 colorless so this can be easily powered up with the help of Eeletrik. Zekrom has an alright weakness to Fighting, and I say alright as although there is Donphan Prime to knock it out, thanks to the recent release of Kyurem, Donphans popularity has dropped.
Tornadus.
As I just mentioned Donphan Prime's popularity has dropped, but if this deck were to come up against Donphan, this is the pokemon you would use. You may be wondering why Tornadus is the pokemon to use, well it has a resistance to fighting and able to 2OHKO it, yeah i think this is the pokemon to use. This also has great synergy with Zekrom as they both can make full use of Double Colorless; Tornadus' second attack deals 80 damage for 3 colorless energy, so this can be charged with the use of a double colorless and another of any energy (e.g. an lightening energy) and Zekrom's first attack requires a double colorless to use outrage.
Thundurus.
Earlier on in this article I mentioned this pokemon and how good it was as a starter for this deck. Well now I'll go into more detail. Thundurus' first attack searches your deck for a lightening energy, and you may attach it to itself on the premise that there is 1 colorless energy attached to Thundurus (in order to do the attack). Now if you then attach another lightening the next turn, Thundurus has enough energy to deal 80 damage followed by the discarding of one of those energies. Now if you had an Eeletrik and another pokemon (e.g. Zekrom), the following turn you could reattach that discarded energy to Zekrom; you have a decent energy acceleration combo in this 110HP pokemon and Eeletrik's 'Dynamotor' ability.
Eeletrik.
This is what holds the deck together. This is arguably one of the best energy acceleration/recovery cards currently out there thanks to such a good ability. There are many ways to kickstart the energy acceleration technique with this 90HP card; these include Junk Arm, Professor Juniper, Thundurus and Sage's Training all of which can discard energy, and all of which are in this current deck list. Being a stage 1 pokemon means that it can set up slightly quicker than Typhlosion Prime - a stage 2 fire type version of this. Both of these cards have negatives, with Eeletrik's being that it can only attach energy to the bench were in Typhlosion's case, you have to put 1 damage counter onto the pokemon you attach the energy to.
Cleffa.
This is mainly for those bad hands which is great but it does put it to sleep, which under normal circumstances would be bad, however thanks to its 'PokeBody' it has the chance to escape damage free. A downside to having a 30HP under a flippy condition is that if it wakes up before your opponent can attack, you wont have a cute little Cleffa anymore. where on the other hand, if Cleffa is asleep during your turn, you are going to need to try and get it out of there with cards like switch, in order to deal some damage.
Most of the trainers should be pretty self explanatory in this deck so i'm not really goint to touch on them.

Teches
Another 1-1 Eeletrik. To ensure good energy acceleration
Max Potion. To heal these pokemon and can be solved by using Eeletrik.
More Sage's. For discarding the energy.
Switch. To get Eeletrik out of the firing line!
More Donphan Counters. To remove the chance of an Auto Loss to it.
Engineer's Adjustments. Decent drawing; and discards energy.

The Future

Zekrom EX. This is probably one of the most likely changes/additions to the deck. With a great attack that has superb synergy with the other cards in the deck, the most likely future is that this will replace Zekrom and make the deck very playable. Also likely to be released in the next set will be Chrism energy (a rainbow without the catch of 10 damage) and Skyarrow Bridge (a stadium that reduces retreat by 1), two cards for basics. One other card is Heavy Ball that allows you to search for a pokemon that has 3 or more retreat, this works with Zekrom a it can get you it without any catches. So as you can see ZETT has a promising future ahead!
